Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This policy explains what personal information SafeAbroad collects, why, and who can see it. We handle your information following the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).

1. Information we collect

  • Account details: username, email address, and password. Your password is stored scrambled (hashed), so no one, including administrators, can read it.
  • Personal profile: name, date of birth, gender, civil status, home address, contact number, and highest education.
  • Work background: specializations, languages, and employment history, including past employers, agencies, and countries of deployment.
  • Preferences: preferred work setup, positions, and destination countries.
  • Activity: saved jobs, when you last signed in, how many times you have signed in, and when you reassessed your profile.

2. How we use it

  • To match you with job openings, countries, and agencies.
  • To confirm it is you when you reset a forgotten password, using your date of birth and contact number.
  • To find accounts that need review, such as underage or duplicate accounts. These checks only flag an account; an administrator decides what happens.
  • To produce overall statistics. These are totals and do not identify you.

3. Who can see your information

  • You can see and edit your details in My Profile.
  • SafeAbroad administrators can view account profiles and activity to manage accounts. User lists they download leave out email addresses and contact numbers.
  • We do not sell your information or share it with employers, recruitment agencies, or advertisers.

4. Outside services

Your browser loads the list of Philippine regions, provinces, and barangays from the PSGC public directory (psgc.gitlab.io), and country flag images from flagcdn.com. These services only see that a page was loaded. They do not receive your profile.

5. Cookies

SafeAbroad uses a single cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. How we protect it

  • Passwords are hashed, never stored as plain text.
  • Password reset attempts are limited and recorded to stop someone from guessing your details.
  • Suspended accounts lose access immediately.
  • Every suspension or reactivation of an account is recorded, along with the administrator who did it.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account exists.

8. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • know what information we hold about you;
  • correct it, which you can do yourself in My Profile; and
  • object to how it is used.

For anything you cannot do yourself in My Profile, contact the DMW administrators who manage SafeAbroad.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
